Bespoke Oak Frame Buildings
Our standard range is a starting point, not a limit. If you need a building that is a non-standard size, has a particular roof design, or requires specific structural features, we design and build to your exact requirements.
What Makes a Build Bespoke?
Every customer’s site and requirements are different. Common reasons customers come to us for a bespoke design include:
- Non-standard footprint — an irregular plot, an awkward boundary, or a need for a specific bay count or width
- Specific roof pitch or height — to match an existing building or maximise roof space within planning constraints
- Attached or linked structures — garages or cart lodges that connect to a house or existing building
- Combination buildings — garage plus workshop, garage plus store, or a large multi-bay frame
- Heritage and Conservation Area designs — buildings that need to reflect the character of a historic setting
- Commercial or equestrian applications — larger frames for storage, stabling, hospitality, or events
The Bespoke Process
We keep the process straightforward. Once you get in touch with your requirements, we discuss what you are trying to achieve and what is feasible within your budget and site constraints. We then work up a design, confirm the specification, and provide a fixed price before any commitment is made.
All frames — standard or bespoke — are cut and prepared in our Kent workshop, numbered for assembly, and delivered as a complete kit ready to erect.
Why Green Oak Is Ideal for Bespoke Builds
Green oak is naturally suited to bespoke construction. It is easier to cut, shape, and joint than dried timber, which means complex profiles and non-standard designs are straightforward to execute. As the frame dries in place over the first few years, the mortise and tenon joints tighten and the structure becomes progressively more rigid — a characteristic unique to traditional oak frame construction.
Typical Bespoke Projects
- Double and triple garages with room-in-roof designs
- Cart lodges and open-fronted carports for period properties
- Garden studios and home offices
- Equestrian buildings and field shelters
- Barn replacements and agricultural storage buildings
- Wedding and event structures
